GW & Grid assignments

Well after a long time of playing in the Atlantic i decided to give the IXD2 a chance and went for a career with 1 of the Monsun boats. Now, operating out of Penang my grid assignment shows Mosambique. The only thing i can find on the map which seems even close to it is the Mosambique channel but after arriving there the first objective, to reach a certain grid, is not shown as completed.

So, does GWX treat this as any normal grid in the Atlantic & if so where do i need to go to with this assignment ? Or is this part of the immersion but perhaps not being recognised by the game ?

im pretty sure that because of the way the game is hard coded, pacific boats are treated differently than atlantic boats in terms of "patrol grids"

im almost 100% sure this is addressed in the GWX manual.

IIRC players are more or less on the honor system to patrol assigned grids in the pacific theater

As there are no Kreigsmarine grid squares down there you wont ever complete an objective
Same in the Black Sea or North of Norway

I swear I've come across that word before somewhere. Pretty sure it doesn't apply to me though. Now if you'll excuse me theres a small ketch on the horizon thats just asking for a few shells

I suppose i can always edit the CFG file to still get the renown for reaching the assigned patrol grid. Don't know if there's any honour in that :rotfl:

Yes, it is adressed in the manuall:

"The 10th Flotilla uses Indian Ocean grid references as shown in Table 8. NOTE: GWX cannot award
renown for reaching Indian Ocean patrol grid objectives due to Silent Hunter III game limitations."

..and I managed to get to Penang, but I felt so lost so that I put in for an transfer only after my 2:nd patrole...just missed the north atlantic so much...:)
