"Honest, officer, we were using our semi-submersible submarine-like vessel to transport sugar. We have no idea how that, umm, other stuff got here. Someone else must have snuck in and switched it on us...":dead:

This is another submarine, but it did carry drugs and was busted off Costa Rica in 2006. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15811689/

Good reason for the surveillance planes to carry depth charges :D

With so many Russian subs for sale I'm surprised some our enterprising criminal element hasn't snapped one of those up. It seems almost anyone could buy one.

Yep that pics the type, they are not fully submersible, as in the snorkel and windshield never go under. NK uses them as well for smuggling, insertion type stuff.

I think this is yet another reason to call an end on this pathedic "war on drugs".

I heard that piper aztecs (nice old twin engine aircraft) is a favorite of drug smugglers due to it's unsual construction which allows many storage areas for drugs to be stored. I have heard the areas of columbia, and coastal waters are littered with abondoned Aztecs. This to me is a very sad waste of a nice old plane.

Save the aztecs!!!! Declare the war on drugs over with.

Now we have homemade subs getting caught and meeting a grizly fate I am sure. If it wasn't for this un ending war, these subs would not get built unless somebody wanted a submarine for themselves.

Why haven't they done that, there are hundreds of them just waiting to be refurbished and sent to Venezuala.

Practicality. Upkeep and maintenance is none too cheap or easy. Nothing like that modified speedboat seen above.

i think Iran mite like a few them to. im sure Russia would glad to sell them. i mean they already sold them a billion dollars worth of jets, why not throw in a few subs to?

Yep, they could take the warhead off a torpedo and fill it with drugs and shoot to end up on a deserted beach. :know:
