Hi All,

New to SH3 and loving it. (Modded to GWX1.03).

My question may seem strange, but, can you target a vessel without the periscope/Observation scope? If yes, how?

Cheers

hmm, you can get a bearing by listening to it on the hydrophone and if you have sonar you can mesaure range to target, take two observations like that 3 minutes and 20 seconds apart and you have his course and can calculate speed. calculate an intercept course, feed the data into the tdc and you are in business. Thats the basics of it, never actualy tried to pull it off though.

Search or the hydrophone tutorial, it is all you need. Good documentation on how to do this by hearing.

I've done it by hydrophone in low visibility.

If you use the electro boat it has the new sonar than ot's really easy to sink a ship without a periscope.

Yes... I've killed many a ship BVR and just listening.

In fact I can tell you when you sink a ship like that (if your map updates are on) it will plot a gray sunk-ship icon instead of a red one. :yep:
