A Florida-based Customs and Border Protection aircraft recently intercepted a semi-submerged smuggling vessel filled with five metric tons of cocaine (http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:siteSearch%28%27cocaine%27%29;).
The Air and Marine crew tracked the self-propelled vessel carrying $352 million worth of cocaine and coordinated a plan with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard to intercept the vessel. Four suspected smugglers were taken into custody.
The Customs and Border Protection aircraft was patrolling in the eastern Pacific Ocean (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,294159,00.html#) when the crew spotted the vessel Sunday during an ongoing western hemisphere tracking operation.
The aircraft sent instructions to a U.S. Navy ship to meet the vessel. Coast Guard members arrested the suspects and seized 11 cocaine bales.
CBP’s operation includes P-3 Orion long-range surveillance and patrol aircraft throughout the United States (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,294159,00.html#), Central and South America to purse threats.

How many enviromental impact reports would they have to file for sinking that? And would they have to pay to put the fish through rehab?

They certainly have the funds to have something appropriate constructed. Finding someone to crew might be a tad more difficult. Its the next logical step for drug-smugglers, seeing as smugling by air is too perilous and too easy to detect. An added advantage is the increased cargo a sub can carry. Now all that remains to be seen is what the us/europe can do to counter it. I am not sure that congress will go for having a seawolf or a Perry-class posted in the caribbean or pacific just to do drug-interdiction. Sonarbouys will probably do the trick. :)

Have a nice day :)

Guess it depends how many times it's gone undetected before?

May have paid for it's self and cargo many times over.

could be... but it could also be the first time they have attempted this method. (probably not)

All i know is that a lot of police cars and sheriffs cars driving around texas have a big quote on the back end

"This vehicle was purchased using siezed drug money."

i guess if the cartels dont mind financing law enforcement then keep sending that junk our way.

personally i cant see why people do drugs, i have never done a drug that wasnt prescribed to me by a doctor. and i have certainly never touched crap like coke or marijuana... i guess if your life gets bad enough and you feel like there is nowhere else to turn it might come to that, but beautiful celebrities who have everything they could possibly want out of life? what a waste

I don't know as a doobie is such a bad thing when you have four Black Swans pinging you... but definitely not coke....that stuff will make you harbor raid Scapa in broad daylight.

Yes now that I think of it it would have been a better idea:damn:

"This Sub was Reasearched, Developed, Built, Armed, Manned, and Mantained using siezed drug money." That should painted on the hull of any sub assigned for pure counter drug sub ops.:rotfl:

This is the second sub discovered. A few years ago they found one still under construction.

Much easier to send the stuff in a container labelled TOYS. :D
