Why the hell can't I insert the troops!?

I've had this problem over and over. You get a troop insertion mission, or even spy insertion. You get to the yellow star and I go towards it until I hit the beach because the option to launch the boats doesn't appear. I reverse out, try a little further down the beach. No. Hm. Maybe the other way down the beach. No. What the hell.. I eventually lose my temper and order the sub onto the beach at ahead flank... :damn:

What's going on?

Sometimes this happens, sometimes the launch troops button appears.

It's neverending with this game. :-?

You have to be on the surface and stop all your engines. A new window will appear, like at the end of patrol or visual contact, and you go from there. Better be 1.5 nm or less from the objective.:cool:

You have to approach submerged and then surface within 3 nm or when it gets too shallow and then come to a stop. If you don't surface and then stop you won't be able to insert the troops.
