i start the mission 3 seconds later im dead ??

so it says im starting in Eckinford which i cant find anywhere on my map, and after 4 seconds it says submarine destroyed by collision ??? What is happening !!

Well Where you are at is a town on land
Am guessing you saved there from last patrol

Go back to a previos save

When you exit a patrol and the "dock at " comes up always look where is named
You can dock at a town as well as ports so watch what names appear

Thanks for the info... I will definitely keep it in mind ...I had no clue I could just dock anywhere by accident ..not that I have tried...Heh :o

Usually I just steam back to Lorient ...If I am able

Someone else posted a screenshot of their sub on land in the med too

oh tell me about it....I'm experienced enough with these things to know that you shall ALWAYS save several times every hour. CTDs are not your friend....
