......then win prizes.
Moscow - A Russian region of Ulyanovsk has found a novel way to fight the nation's birth-rate crisis: It has declared Sept. 12 the Day of Conception and for the third year running is giving couples time off from work to procreate.

Well, this is probably right in line with their Nuhi group. I can understand the issue with their population and the desire to return to communism. Man, I mean there is no easy solution. That went out twenty years ago. America's spending spree isn't helping things out, either.
What I do know is that if Russia returns to communism, the younger generation will need to be cleansed and brainwashed. Putin will need to purge university professors, generals, nurses, physicans. Anyone who even remotely opposes the new system -- the same way Mao and Stalin and Castro did. It'll be complete civil war until then. He'd better shoot every "journalist" on site, run Harm missiles into any detected transmitters, and use explosives to make the mass graves fast enough. Putin's got his work cut out for him if he wants communism back.

Nashi ;)
And I think you're wrong, it's not the desire to return to communism - but a desire to return to the stability that was offered by the last communist rule. For all its negative points, there was really a baby boom of sorts in the late 70s - early 80s in the USSR - and without any specific government incentives like now, there had to be socioeconomic reasons for it, right?
Otherwise I think the vast majority of people don't really miss communism much. Just stability, knowing that you'll have a job and food on the table tomorrow. Simple as that. The Soviet government between the 60s and early 80s, for all its faults, managed to provide a fairly acceptable deal for the vast majority in that regard.

Interesting though I thought that adoption agencies in Eastern Europe were full of kids, cant people get one from there than having their own, perhaps I am misinformed.:hmm:

I wonder if the high costs of an adoption don't ensure that most of those kids come to the West, particularly the United States. My sister adopted 2 kids from Korea, and it was ridiculously expensive.
