Can you succesfully fire torpedos when you are at 50 or 150 meters submerged ( good tactic for killing DDs)?:damn:

The question was whether you can FIRE a torp, not acutally hit something with it.

But I never tried that either.
Perhaps somebody else has ? :hmm:

I don't think you can fire one below 25m.

You can't open the tubes below a certain depth which makes it impossible to fire torpedoes down deep.

The XXI does it, right.

Thought the question was meant more in general.
I don't think you can fire one below 25m. When diving deep with open tubes, you cannot close them until you go up again.
So this 25m zone would make sense in terms of SH3.

I havent tried the XXI yet but other u-boats you can't. You get a message saying you are to deep. I pressed the fire button accidentaly once and i got that message.

You cannot open the tubes or fire torpedoes if you are below 20m.... BUT if you are in a XXI you can open the tubes and fire a homing (acoustic) torpedo from 30-40m....The hard think is to guess the DD type that is after you and set the magnetic detonator accordingly....Sunk 2 DD's that way one time in a desperate situation (they came out of the fog and i had to crash dive and fire....)
