Hi,
I thought these photos may be interesting for some of you, CaptainCox in particular, since he was there this summer as well...
Anyway, I have 47 photos to show!
29 photos are from the trenches museum
18 from Verdun Memorial including Fort de Douaumont
I have done the descriptions to the pictures underneath every picture, places above!

Just for fun:

I visited the place with the trees back in 2001 and wrote this poem close to where my Great Grandfather died. I think it goes well with your photo.
I was only 14 at the time, so go easy on the criticism. ;)

Indeed! I was impressed how well he told about these trenches and the stuff we could see, also when I asked him some questions about it...

It's okay....
Since my group consisted of a majority of girls, many pretty girls btw, the management had decided not to use too much time on war themes as necessary. So we had a conference about Verdun before going and then one day to see all this, including the bus ride around the area. But I would have liked to stop in the forest as well. Oh, well, I'm still young, I can return another day...

The trenches museum is situated a few kilometres away from the Verdun memorial. If you want, I can send a e-mail to one of the teachers or supervisors of the summer school and ask for the exact location, because I don't really remember, where it was...
Yeah, we had a lot of rain in North-eastern part of France this summer, in all of Europe I think, but that day, at least while we were at the Fort, we only had very little rain, but some of the day we had lots of it. While inside the Memorial building it was raining "cats and dogs" (is this a British expression only?).
