There are no real men in the desert to fight. ;)

Marpat, BDU and ACU style uniforms are, for all practical intents and means of concealment, absolutely worthless.
The color bands either aren't bland enough or they're not dark enough and whoever it was that decided to eliminate black (or dark Blue) should get out into nature more often at night to examine the terrain and then kick themselves in the ass for designing a uniform that makes troopers glow in the dark.
Mix a bit of the NWU colors into the ABU (for an overall darker blue sort of look) and I think you've got a woodland winner. The ACU is a write-off. I'd rather wear flat black and do night-work than risk wearing that damn thing at all.
Of course the real winner of all uniforms would be wearing a ghillie suit all the time, but thatwould be a wee bit impractical.

I think I would perpetually sneeze in a ghillie suit.
Best Camo would be this:

Don't worry, Lieutenant, they are only the sneezing trees of the Serengeti.
I thought Screaming Trees broke up after two albums?
Dis-missed!

ACU.....looks pretty similar to what I see on the Middle East channels in urban gunfight scenes :yep:
I'll stick with my good old M65 Combat jacket, I have personally battle-tested this while paintballing in the woods in Finland versus a team of all comers from lots of European nations, who were wearing various German, Finnish and British camouflage gear.
And guess who won, yup, ME! THAT's RIGHT! MEEEEEEEE!!! Top of the World Ma!
Muhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Incidentally, this is the only sort of battle anyone should ever have to fight :D

Agreed, I always thought that global conflicts and disagreements should be sorted out with a game of Command and Conquer, or a paintball match.

None of these uniforms are protective whatsoever from gun fire at the least, you did think in our day, they'd be bringing out bullet prof clothing not vests but the real thing - "bullet proof", light with an inbuilt cooling/heating system so the wearer can with a flick of a switch he has wraped around his wrist adjust the warmth when in cold areas, to cold when in desert areas, also add some camoflague which will auto adjust to the surroundings. You did think scientists would of came up with something like this by now - 2007 and they're still running around in simple materials. Going out in the battlefield with fancy headgear yet cotten wearing clothings is just stupid. Simple weather harden marterial is not going to save a soldiers life from gun fire.

I'm not sure about the Marines uniform but the ACU pattern was not designed for concealment in the same way as the old woodland BDU. The pattern actually isn't bad in the woods if you use the shading right. The big thing about it is that it is designed to make the wearer appear blurry at distance so it's harder for them to target you through open sights.

Wow....and it never occurred to the designer that the proper way to fire your weapon (of ANY "Iron Sights") is to focus on the front sight and purposely make the target blurred (hence why troopers are trained to shoot for the center mass)?

You realize that a proper ghillies suit is made of burlap on which you attach accoutrements made from your surroundings right?
Unless you're allergic to grass or have hayfever I doubt you'll have much problem wearing a ghillies suit (notice I didn't factor in comfort!).

Did you know that if you extend your index finger, and point it at something, you will always point center of mass. This is the foundation of Combat Pistol Shooting.

As is gripping the firearm hardest with your pinky nd lightest with your middle finger. Alot people get it backwards on that one.
Woodland.
But i'm biased as I love getting out and camping in forests and national parks.
I vote for NEW pink lace negligee. What?
