Where should I go?

When I upgrade to a type IX U-boat, (probably around jan 41), I was wondering what are the best patrol areas for this type?
The obvious ones are around Freeport and off the coast of Norfolk(Canada NOT England), are there others?

Until the US enters the war, keep patroling the coastline down to South Africa. As soon as the US enters, head over to the East Coast and into the Caribbean.:arrgh!:

You can still patrol & attack shipping near England, just make sure you stay in deep water. The IX is a big target.

Shadowing Freetown-England convoys and attacking them nightly can prove very rewarding way to head for home. On one instance, I followed a convoy until escorts were gone and only four small freighters survived when I ran out of ammo and torpedoes less than 2 days steaming to Lorient.

If you want to stay near to home try BF 13-15 or a little bit further try AM 52 :arrgh!:
