View Full Version : One torpedo, one BB --Balz does it again.
To BDU
From U-53
26 May 1940. Position AM2498
Encountered task force, 3 Battleships, 2-3 cruisers and several escorts. Had only one torpedo in tube II and one in IV. Attacked Nelson. Magnetic shot near the stern. Nelson stopped and sank in 15 minutes.
Kptlt. Balz, J.S.
PS to Admiral Doenitz:
The German people and the Reich have nothing to fear when Johan Sebastian Balz is at sea. :smug:.
Since this is my second Schlagshiff on this patrol, I'm sure the Fuhrer will not object if you would add some diamonds to my Knight's Cross. Matter of fact that would be a great photo op for you (shaking hands with the great Balz). Looking forward to seeing you at the dock on my triumphal return to Willi.
Yours faithfully
Johan Sebastian Balz
The shining example for the Kriegsmarine.
In 1940 it still counts as beginner's luck  :arrgh!:
Nelson gets a full stopper!

Brag I'm starting to worry about you dude.
I know. BDU won't complain about sinking a battle ship and saving torps.
They're probably planning tactics like luring 5 BB's to one area and sending Balz there so he can sink them in one attack wave :rotfl:
But besides making fun of this: good job  I havn't even seen any enemy BB's yet. Not at the open sea and not in any harbour I went to. And I'm sure I would need more than one torp.

2 Rodney's. 2 torpedo's. (6 - 2 = 4 emergency torpedo's left)

Hmm, somehow Rodney and Nelson always get the short end of the stick with you guys:D
Perhaps Carriers are the thing, or an Iowa class BB
or like I did, 2 King George Vs in a 4 eel spread :D only the Duke of York and the Queen Elizabeth to collect all the Royals, bwahaha!

With what. Your 1,000 rounds per minute deck gun? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I only started seeing battleships on my 2nnd carreer. Then, when firing salvoes at BBs, I've noticed that if one torp hit near the stern, it would either stop or sink the waggon.
Sometimes it will damage the rudder and the BB will veer off course from the other ships, making it easy pickings. :D

Herr Kaleun Balz:
As always, it's a pleasure to know you are acheiving those wonderful victories.
As mentioned in other thread, we are waiting for your safe return.
Everything is ready at Consuela's and we are anxious to to sing you the Seemanslied while you step in the bar with your fairly won medals on your chest.
We have enough booze to sink a C3, caviar, turkey and lots of lovely ladies, each one more beautiful than the other.
Prost, Kaleun....

Slurp, slurp, slurp.
Thank you, Capt Zap. I'm afraid that due to Tommy interference I didn't have time to finish Meet me in Balzimore You Hoochie Woochie. I was also upset by some depth charging. So I didn't finish Du Alein bist meine Hoochie Woochie.
Ach, the stress of war is so upsetting to human perfection. It is very upsetting to think that I am here, the only one as good as me.

The title of your song sounds promissing for the lirycs, but you have to take your time.
Let me tell you once again how deeply touched I am by your modesty.

Good kills Herr Kerleun!
Im afraid I dont have the patience to take out BBs in Scapa etc.
One shot for a BB eh? I had to fire Two tops at a tiny British sub at that sub base. Was no fun....

Herr Kapt Balz,
Having sunk a British Battleship on your last patrol, we here at the bar decided to make a toast. As we sit here awaiting the refit of our boats and jealously hear of your exploits, we made our toast.
"Here's to our illustrious Kapt "BB" Balz for a fine patrol........Congrats
Hmmm, BB-Balz has a certain ring to it, doesn't it? Cheers mates! :D

"Time to add another purchase line to our Lend-Lease order, lads"
"Confound it, Turing, when are you going to break that bloody code?? We've already given you 2 weather ships and all their books! How many more bloody cribs do you need???"

Johan Sebastian Balz commanding.
Back in the Atlantic, was interrupted while writing a letter to Mom. Convoy heading our way! Of course, Balz got in the middle. Chose 2 tankers. But . . .
Something strange, a fleeting shadow. The great Balz instincts worked overtime. Don't fire!
The tanker moves on revealing the shadow of a Revenge. Two balzograms for Revenge and 10 seconds later, a torp for the tanker.
The tanker blows up, both torps hit revenge. It sinks while its angry escorts put on a son et lumiere show not too far from our location.
We're now Balzing freighters West of Cadiz. Looking forward to celebrations in liberated Lorient.
Give my warmest regards to the Fuhrer. I'm now working on my new song, a French one, Tu est ma Hoochie Woochie

:()1:.............
Hehe funny thing, just run into my first convoy in SH3/GWX career in sector BE56(5th patrol).
After we managed to sneak pass the escort(thanks Brag for guide on your site) i surfaced right in middle of it, and there it was HMS Nelson and following her, big, fat tanker, coming to straight in front of me:yep:.I sent off all 4 torpedoes(3 in tanker, 1 in Nelson) and dived to 140m.
Got confirmation for 2 impacts and 1 ship sinking,(found out later it was tanker).I assumed that i missed Nelson.
After almost 2 hours of playing "seek and hide" with what i believed was 2 escorts, we surfaced 9 km away, undamaged. On my shock ,behind me was Nelson, 8 km away and not moving.
It looks like she was one of my chasers, but got ripped her belly open by one of my torpedoes earlier and after flooded came to full spot, sinking slowly.
It took her awhile to sink after that.:arrgh!:
Needless to say , now i am hooked to this game.
Congratulations, Kaleun MLP!
Very pleased to hear when the webbie info works for others. Now, we expect great things from you . Have a cigar and the drinks are on me. I have 90K on this patrol and will be heading for Lorient in a couple of days.
Viel gluck und gute jagd!
Danke, herr Brag,
70k here ,followed convoy till i runout of torpedoes. Now i am heading to Cadiz to resuply(it's still feb 1940) since i am low on fuel and everything. Our doctor was bored with no work to do and he drink all of our schnapps ,so that's missing to;)
Aaah, happy times ....:|\\
I'm outside Cadiz right now. Excellent hunting between Gibraltar and Cape Sao Vicente. Beware of air patrols after March 1940 (Ansons).
