Are there any star shells in this game that I just maybe havent found? I always used them in SH3 and if there arent any why the BEEP did they take them out?

No, cause they dident use them.
For that matter neither did the german subs.

Check the mods forum I know someone was looking into modding them in.

I believe that star shell was available, but most skippers wouldn't use it as they felt it also illuminated their own boat and that it put the submarine at a greater risk in a surface action.

Why light up the area and put a bullseye on your sub, no thank you.

The enemy DDs have then cause I have seen many fire them at night
to try and find me. Searchlights will come on too and sweep the sea...

I've actually seen Merchants use them as well but I assumed they were armed.
Star shells of various colors, white ,red, green, blue where regularly used in situations for signalling and maintaining radio silence...
They are risky but you can look it up here and see how they were employed..
