Hi all,

I'm relatively new to what I like to call Subs 4, and have found these forums to be a library of wealth for newbies like myself.

My first mission has me patrolling for merchants off the coast of the phillipines. I trudged along to my gold star, but it did not turn grey like people say it should when I got there. I continued down the coast of the phillipines, sinking 4 coastal merchants so far for a tonnage of approximately 15,800.

I'm down to one torpedo in my fore reserves, while I have all the fish I'd blow out my rear end still on board. I also have about 95% of my deck ammo if I need it still.

What do I have to do to get the star to turn grey on me here? Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks!
Jay

depends, if its patrol, then you need to spend X amount of hours in the vicinity (72 hours i think), if its an order to sink shipping, you need to sink X amount on tonnage

Actually for me its normally 48 hours so just stay close to that star until it goes gray. And its normally 10000 tons I think.

Thanks for the tips. I drew a box around that star and just circled...and circled...and circled....a lot longer than 48 hours. What needed to happen was I needed to pick up a sound contact in that box. As soon as that happened the star turned grey.

Ended up sinking 6 ships, for a total of 26 tonnes, and docked back in Manilla with all my aft torpedos still onboard and one fish in the fore tubes.

Earned the victory cross too so it was a good day!

There is a minor glitch where the star does not change color unless you zoom or pan the map.

Also radioing in a report when you reach the destination seems to help.

Rgr that. I have to spend 48 hours at a patrol post, and not deviate more than 50 mile radius from said point.

I call in an update as soon as I "all stop" at the patrol post, and after crusing around for 48 hours, I radio another update, then zoom the map.

If you radio after that last call when the star grey/grays out, you will be assigned another mission. Take care in radioing though.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

I leave the map screen and go to another station. When I go back the star is grey.

Sometimes it does sometimes it doesent. Like I said its a minor glitch. Most people never notice cause there either changing stations or moving the map around.

Just thought Id make a note of it.
