View Full Version : GWX?: Flags next to sunken ships in log
Hey guys,
Sorry if this has been brought up before, but would it be possible to incorporate a flag icon next to a sunken ship in the captain's log (shortcut 'k') Would be a very nice feature. But I don't even know if it is possible, just a thought though. Or perhaps some text showing the ships nationality?
Sunk a neutral last night in a convoy attack and I was wondering where the bugger came from :rotfl:
Can't wait for the final installment, thanks so much for the hard work!! I can still remember when I first saw the gauges popping out from the left and noticed the pulldown maps at the attack stations. Now that's a gamers mind at work.
Wonderful stuff.

Can't be done. SH3 does not record the specific nationality of sunken ships.
Notwithstanding that, the log is stored as a text file. Text files and images don't mix, LOL!

Gezoes,
If you don't already use it, I recommend using SH3 Commander. Once you exit the game, in SH3 Commander you can generate a patrol log showing names (and I believe the flag) of every ship you sunk.

Nah, not the flags (or nationalities), just the names.
Would have loved it if SH3 actually stored the nationality of sunk ships, as then SH3Cmdr could have been so much more specific in name usage (I would have even added some statistical analysis), but alas, not to be.

Darn! Trying to answer this from work (guess I shouldn't!) SH3 Commander is still great... guess when I quit the game at midnight and look at my log I'm imagining things.:dead:

Hi!
Couldn't you just modify the ship's name to be "US Liberty Ship" instead of just "Liberty Ship" for the LL.cfg in the /American folder and "UK Liberty Ship" for the LL.cfg in the /British folder, etc?

No, because the name used in the log comes from the "global" *Names.cfg, not the individual roster cfg files, which are only used for the ME.

Rats.
I figured there was probably a good reason why no one had already done this... :)
