Yesterday I installed Sh3gen... after my visit today of the forums I read I should get commander (due to the VIIC/41 thingy). What is the difference between those 2?

Can I use them together or should I stick with only 1?

They are two totally different tools which have nothing to do with each other. They can and should both be used.

SH3Gen generates war reports and assigns missions, showing more or less ships in port based on 'spy reports', and adjustable as to amount and reliablility.

SH3 Commander generates millions of possible crew names; lets you award more medals to the crew; lets you adjust several parameters including gun reload times, wave height, days in base as well as time compression settings; assigns names to the ships you sink, generates patrol reports which compare your scores to those of real commanders at that time; lets you select 'surrendered' as an option when you are killed; lets you select 'realistic career length', which retires you; takes away crew members (anything from 'transferred' to 'killed in bar fight'); and does a whole bunch of other stuff as well.

As far as I'm concerned, Commander is more important than even the best mods.

Yes, get them both.

Amen to that,I've just started using SH3gen and its a nice bit of immersion which helps you feel a bit more involved, where as SH3Cmdr is nigh on essential,a wonderful accesory to any mod or SH3 game, don't leave port without it:up:

Installed New JSGME ... check
Installed SH3 commander ... get the gwx files.
Installed sh3 cmdr files ... check
Installed SH3CmdrAM ... check
Installed CobaltsVIIC41 ... check

Run Sh3 gwx once to get sh3 data files ... check

Rollback in SHIIIC first. Then install mods, remember to rollback whenever you exit the game because if you add or disable a mod without rolling back it messes up the game IIRC.

..and I can't say it enough.. That Torpedo Real Damage Mod is a MUST HAVE as well :D

I LOVE seeing ships with big holes blown in them and also looking like swiss cheese after fireing my deck gun at them several times !
:arrgh!:
