Ok moderator, this subject is not really linked to SH3 but it can interest everybody who love the sea. And perhaps, who knows, it gives some ideas to the SH3 designer....

This website is perfect: it gives the harbour trafic in real time.
You can watch every ships in the channel or in the harbour.
By clicking on the ship icon you get some characteristic and sometimes a picture of the ship.
Red are tankers, green are Cargo/Containers, blue are Ro/Ro passenger, etc.
By selecting schip listing, you can access to her real actual position, destination, speed, etc.
Fantastic.

There is:
http://www.aisliverpool.co.uk/showship.php?refresh=2&count=10&map=-1&mmsi=235009850

Actually, I follow since yesterday a big transcontainer named "Antwerpen Express". She is now at Southampton since 12 hours. You can see her: http://www.aisliverpool.co.uk/showship.php?refresh=2&map=-1&mmsi=211311970

By a simple google search you can watch the ship: http://www.histarmar.com.ar/MarinaMercanteExtr/HapagLloyd/antwerpen%20express.jpg
And when she goes away you can follow her everywhere in the world(if you have the software installed).

Actually this website is only around Southampton/Liverpool and Irish sea. But elsewhere, you can watch many other live harbour trafic.
An example with Antwerpen Nord:
http://www.ship-hunters.be/shipplotter/foto%20paginas/Antwerp%20North.htm

The listing of the harbours: http://www.shipspotters.nl/TTTtimes.html

You can download the software here: http://www.coaa.co.uk/shipplotter.htm

Note that it's also possible to listen the radio comm between ship and controll !
Watch in the software tutorial and also here: http://teessidelistening.com/northeast.htm
That's all.
Hope you are enjoyed.
A same system in SH3 will be fantastic for the multiplayer game.

You don`t mean that!! The Antwerpen Express is a Hapag Lloyd ship.
That`s the shipping company i am working for.
Last week i was onboard of the Stuttgart Express to talk to the captain.

I wish there was one for the US.

Unfortunately, outside a few tankers doing the Alaska-Calif run, Matson lines doing Hawaii, and a few odd balls, the US does not have a merchant marine. the only country in the world that has more warships than merchies.

I wish there was one for the US.

One what ?
Website for the US or a ship for the US ?
Anyway I get here a website for Houston(Texas):
http://vesseltrax.com/

@java`s revenge: Nice surprise ! Myself, I select "Antwerpen Express" because I worked on ships witch goes always from Antwerpen(Belgian is my country) ! But it was long time ago...
Watch here a pic of my first ship, she was so beautifull.
