It's taking 5 minutes to save a game and the files are as big as 1GB!!! What is going on here????

Patch 1.3, RFB 1.3, various odds and ends mods on top of it. How do I get these saved game files smaller?!

Lots of discussion about this issue in the modding forum.

Did you include a replay ?

If you're not saving with replay - which is very memory hungry - there;s something seriously wrong somewhere. The longer the mission the bigger the "Save Replay" file -it has to save every incident, position, encounter etc - where a normal savegame just takes a snapshot of the game situation at the moment of saving.

Sounds like beery may have made the same mistake i made in Tmaru 1.3.
Try deleting the submarine SIM files from RFB and see if the problem reoccurs.

edit: must do this in port.

Do a search for the *.SIM files. There are *.SIM files for each sub in the simulation. Delete them and see if the problem disappears. And you must do this when your patrol is finished and you are in port or before starting a new carreer.

Yesterday in port I installed Campains from TM 1.4. After which I did a photo recon for BB Yamamoto; found, photoed and sank same. By the time I got back to port I had sank 12 merchants, several by gun fire, dodged two convoys and a task force for lack of fish. The saved file for that mission was 5.7mb.

My save files have been running anywhere from 3-6 mg. Today I get photo recon carriers off china coast. I sank one merchant off the coast of Japan, not yet to china. I saved file to go eat (no replay checked).

I checked the save file due to slow loading. I found 255 mb saved file from Midway to Japan coast. This has never happened before. For this mission I ran at ahead standard on the surface most of the way, did two practice dives, no air attacks and an easy straight setup on the merchant.

I used campains from Favored to Taste 2.5 with patch 1.2 and did not have a bigger file than 6 mbs which included three completed objectives.

I restarted the Photo Recon Carriers mission from port and deleted the 255 mb saved file. I am going to run same course and speed and see if anything changes, will report back.

Any new ideas on what might cause this???

just a question did you turn off the dev section in the config file? i was getting the same thing until i did that

I have not messed with the config file. I have not had this problem before. However, I checked and I had installed realistic battery after the campain files from TM 1.4.

I just ran the same mission again that I described above. I have not yet attacked the merchant and I have a save file of 226 mbs.

What I don't understand is that it worked prefect yesterday with the mods I have stated installed. Why pick today? I didn't add or delete anything today. Back to square for the 147th time.

The TM xxx MB bug happened because Ducimus altered Tambor / Gar class subs individually. To the ones that experience huge saved games: what sub class and what mods do you use?

Also related was the SIM files were out of date. Not sure, but i think it was part of the problem as well.

Ive since undid both changes. Reapplied modifications to new sim files and undid the tambor/gar changes.

Hi

I used the RBL stand-alone mod with a Gar class submarine and I ran into the same problem. A save file of almost 500Mb.

I uninstalled the mod and all's fine. However, haven't heard yet about anyone who's had this problem with a stand-alone RBL.

Edit: I just found that the files *I* used in the mod were not the correct ones. Old RBL 1.2 files
