Hi I have a slight problem with T-72 balkans on fire when I start the game it loads fine except for the fact that everything (including the menu) has black rectangles around it and when I load a mission the entire outside world is black along with the inside of the tank.

I tried reinstalling the game (that didnt fix it)

I tried changing the texture settings (that didnt fix it)

I tried changing the resolution (that didnt fix it)

What is wrong I cant figure out what to do:damn::damn:

Update your video drivers?

What are your systems specs?

Okay, a few things to try:

1. Re-installing, which you've done, so that's out.

2. Making sure the patch (1.3) is properly installed, it can be a bit shaky on install occasionally, so I've heard (make sure the patch downloaded properly too). Check which versions the game says it is running after patching, if you cannot see this because of your issue, right click on the .exe file and read what version it is.

3. Using something to stop background applications from 'stealing' video memory from it when it loads the graphics. The T-72 devs recommend using 'ENDITALL' or a similar utility to achieve this. Enditall is worth having anyway, even if this aint the problem.

4. Update your video drivers.

5. Tweek your video driver's setting, this is especially pertinent if you have an NVidia graphics card, as there are some known issue with T-72 and NVidia. Turning off some of the graphics card settings can sort this out (don't ask me which ones, I use ATI graphics cards!).

6. If your PC is overclocked, this can cause problems with T-72 apparently.

7. Long shot this one: Note that it is notoriously crap on multiplayer, so if it was an MP game you were trying, that could have been the issue.

Well I tried everything you said chock one thing is for sure it made my game load nearly 5x faster than before and it fixed the menu problem but not the mission problems no im not using a nviada video card im using an ATI video card updating the video drivers fixed the menu problems but like I said before not the in-game problems.

Thanks for the help though you got me on the right track

I occasionally fixed issues in the past with various games not by using the most recent, but an older driver. Currently, I also use an outdated driver to which I have "downdated" - but it runs pefectly with all software I am running.

This is not unreasonable, there is no reason to assume that the game necessarily must be fixed by using a driver that even was not existent at the time the last patch was released! ;)

You may also want to try out if switching AA and AF on and off does anything positive for you.

I'm also getting that same problem, which misplaced texture file that you found? And where doe it really go?

I cant remember which texture file it was but it moved itself out of the T-72 main directory and moved itself to the my documents folder and created its own little folder where it stayed until I found it.

I had the same problem.

In my fiddling with the game cfg, I found out that the parameter called "Procedure" has to have a value of "Procedure" ( I know...its probably a translation thing!)

Anyway, it worked for me. No more black squares and black landscapes!

Try it next time.

Cheers
