Okay, Im at 50% fuel, need to head back, I got 1 torpedo ad maybe 10 rounds for the 4" deck gun.

I have one objective in my patrol to destroy merchants in the Java sea that is not complete.

What would you do?

Sail back for a reload in Austrailia or go back to Pearl?

What would happen if i return with a "Not complete"

I have 11 merchants, 1 DD, 1 Minelayer and 1 ISA(?) Battleship under my belt.

I'd eject that last torpedo, write it off as a dud, and RTB.

FYI that mission will never be complete so long as your tonnage is below 10,000 or you have torpedos on board. If it were me, id ditch that last fish.

Thanks again as always, Ducimus.

Maybe it's just me but I'd hold that torpedo until the day I RTB. Might be a merchant that desparately needs it on the way back to port. If you're lucky you'll sink it. If not you can get a damaged credit or write it off as a dud anyway. Just make sure to lose it before you return to base as Ducimus said.

From Java to Perth is gonna take you a good 1/4 tank of fuel. I know this from constant experience being based outta Perth at this time.

I'd hang onto the fish just for an emergency, never fails that a task force of a DD and a sub chaser, and occasionally a gun boat, patrol south of Java.

I am playing with your mod Ducimus and I have on 2 occaisons returned to Freemantle with only approx 4,000 tons under my belt and 9 or more fish still in the tubes (really watching the fuel after taking careful note of your tips on fuel consumption you posted in another thread so headed back to base on half) and been given another assignment. I must say however, on both occasions I held my breath when I docked as I was fully expecting the screen to come up that reads I have been demoted and assigned to the Admirals office "and he takes his coffee with two sugars" is how I think they politely put it.

Actually, I was going to ask you this. In your mod ships don't appear like rush hour traffic, one has to seek them out so you are not going to get unrealistic tonnage. Fuel, as you have pointed out, is an integral part of the game (I'm begining to think it is the biggest) and you then have the "retired" factor thrown in which seems to be triggered by low tonnage or none. All these need to work cohesively with each other which you appear to have achieved in your mod if my above experience is anything to go by.

1) Prudent: Loose that last fish as a...cough 'dud' and end the patrol.
2) Gung Ho: Refit @ nearest Milk Cow (depending on date) return to AO, finish the WP and raise the IJN/Merchant insurance rates some more!

Returning to base with an incomplet mission simply results in a loss of renown and the possiblility of being canned (retired).

Sink missions wont be so bad in Tmaru 1.5 Ive reduced the tonnage requirements to 2,000 tons from the stock setting of 10,000. That should make things a bit better when given a sink merchant shipping patrol mission.

Is this true if you, say, complete 3 missions but fail to complete the 4th? Or is it only if you don't complete your initial mission?

Well you would not get the addittional renown for the incomplete mission however the chances for an early retirement should be less (bugs aside).

what file has to be changed for that, I'd like to try that as well.

Real simple here. Loose the last fish. Find a convoy, call it in. Message will return to return home and we will send other assets for the convoy. This I believe will trigger as a completed mission. Or just hang out and use the cannon to sink ships until the required tonnage is achieved.

off the top of my head...

/data/campaigns/campaign/mission objectives/ *.SINK.mis

These are the mission scripts that say, "go here" and once there, "sink enemy ships!". The script says 10,000 tons. You can open it up in the editor to verify. Easiest way is to the filesup in wordpad, and paste in the new tonnage requirements. Theres ALOT of sink missions, was a minor PITA fixing them all.
