About 123,000 tons, including the Rodney. Was an early 1940 patrol with a VIIB.
Only two 100k+ patrols with a VII so far.

Since i've never tried the IX, there's probably more to come.

This is my highest tonnage patrol so far with a type VIIB, or any boat for that mater. 133,594 GRT sunk with 30 days spent at sea.

I sunk 49,394 GRT in one patrol, that includes HMS Illustrious and two fat tankers in my IID

Alittle over 100k a couple of times. For the most part, a good patrol is about 35-60k.

Herr Mohr you just don't stop to amaze me... 74 ships sunk in one patrol? You throw potatoes at them??

My biggest was around 90k in the earlier years but playing hardcore realistic.

I specifically do not cherry-pick targets for max tonnage... Once, I happened upon two cruise ships in a single patrol. Sank the second one using nothing but the deck gun. Managed to top 100k on that single patrol and haven't bothered trying to duplicate it since. It wasn't a patrol I was particularly proud of.

I'm much happier with my current patrol in which I just sunk a 5000 ton merchant in severely choppy seas just North of Scapa. Fired a 3-fish at 2° salvo and all 3 made solid side impacts! I was able to surface and allow the crew (and myself) a view from topside as she went down... :smug:

In September 1939 in a type VIIB sunk 106,000 GRT, including HMS Rodney. Several lone merchants sunk with the deck gun which helped towards this total.

Herr Russ

140,000 tons

Took my IXD2 to a chokepoint in the Caribbean. Patrolled this 60KM gap at schnorkel/electric and intercepted mostly T3's. Twice I caught 2 sailing together. Barely had enough fuel to get home to Lorient, but lots of medals and promotions were awarded. I let the Coastals and C2's sail by.

A hair over 275k. Was lucky enough to find a Task Force at dock in Loch Ewe that included a few BBs and, IIRC, a pair of carriers. Then, with my remaining torps, I lucked into a convoy with a heavy cruiser, two cruise ships, a few tankers, and cargo ships.

Impressiv.
I'm only near 100 000 tns with carefull to not fired to little ship...
Is somewhere a cheat code to rearm the U-Boot ??
Maby by editing the cfg before starting the save ?
:-?

Nah, for me it was really just luck....and GWX.

I did no rearming, and no cheats.

I just got really really really lucky. Of course, when I ended the patrol I only had AA ammo left.

I don't get it, do you guys make most of your kills with deck gun or something? I'm lucky if I can sink 5 ships in a single patrol.

You have to bear in mind luck can play a big part during a patrol :yep: ....and yes, I know of at least one person who has tweaked the cfg file to carry 10,000 deck gun shells and zero reload times :nope:

Get a convoy, learn how to sink big ships with one eel (1/3 hit from astern for me), sink 5 Groser Ladung (12k?) and/or Groser Tanker (17k) and here you go with the scores... reload tubes and repeat. I don't carry my deck gun anymore...

That it is far too easy to earn tonnage was one of my few beefs with SHIII. Patrol results ranging from 60-250k are able to be attained with regularily, when only 34 commanders were able to sink more than 100k in an entire career. This is one of the few things that SHIV does better (at least at this time), as the AI is a lot better at detecting you prior to the attack, making the act of sinking that much more difficult.

Yeah, that's unrealistic in deed so now I just shoot 2 eels into big targets like in RL, sinks faster, I sink less ships, eventually after month+ hunt I came back with lots of eels just to simulate a great patrol with 60k...

120,000 GWT in 60% realism in GWX 1.02

I was in the area around Curacao and Cuba in December 1941 with a IXC. I was lucky to encounter loads of Tankers. The weather was good enough to use the deck gun so a few ships went down that way. The whole patrol lasted 82 days.

No really how do you use the flack and the DG in bad weather? :hmm: Alter the CFG files?:hmm:
And the AA shouuld be exemt from the bad weather rule as the amount of times I've being stuck without my Zweilling 20mm with a sundrland swooping down for the kill, grrrrr........ :x

Have just completed my first patrol in SH3. Sunk just under 47,000 tons (9 ships). 5 of them were small merchants which I encountered here and there on my way to patrol. I suppose I should save my torps for something bigger.

I think that you were historically accurate. Real life captains didn't hold off on the fish in hopes of finding something bigger. If they came across a 2000 tonner, they sunk it. They didn't let it go by so that they would have torpedoes left over to sink bigger ships.

Crikey... i dont know how you guys get such massive numbers, my best was 26,000 in a single patrol, i guess it doesnt help that 90% of the torpedos i fire are duds and explode before hittiing anything:down:

got lucky. 143,000 tons. a large tanker convoy first then got the rodney with more tankers. admittedly it was 1940.the escorts were just running around in circles. i am now approaching 1943.any convoy now is hard.

Typicall I'll strap a scuttling charge to him and throw him off the bridge on the enemy ship's deck. If he falls in, I've taught him to hold on to the keep and wait... of course, we don't really care when he dies, we typically gather up the pieces and set course for Antarctica. I'VE GOT CARDS WITH THE PENGUINS TONIGHT!
