I've made two patrols with a captain I created for TMaru 1.4. After each patrol I was awarded the medal of honor. The patrols were nothing special--completed two objectives and sunk 10 or so merchies. I have no idea if this over-award is caused by TM 1.4 or the 1.3 dev patch.

the MOH is a rather sacred medal, when it comes to saluting, between the president and a MOH holder, the president salutes first.
the MOH should not be awarded for routine events on CP. i cant answer your question tho, i dont use TM, i havent seen that with 1.3

SH4 has always over awarded them. OTOH, 10 merchants sunk would have been a good career score for a real skipper.

SH4 has always over awarded them.

What he said.

I really wish i knew where to fix that. In SH3, the requirements for medals was just renown, which was in plain sight in a text file. No so in SH4. If i knew where that info was kept, you'd never see a MOH awarded unless it was accompanied by a eulogy

Elanaiba posted that:

Purple Heart: over 40% medium damage taken by the sub

Bronze Star: 3 ships sunk in one patrol or a DD, CL or larger combatant ship not worthy of a higher award

Silver Star: 6 ships sunk in one patrol or a CVE or CA sunk

Navy Cross: 8 ships sunk in one patrol or a BB or CV

MOH: 6 ships sunk in the same engagement (checks for 24 h timeframe) or 2 of the following BB, CV, CVE

There has never been any help or guidance on how to adjust these criteria. There has never been an answer or acknowledgement to any question regarding the medals, nor any help in how to correct them. Very impolite on the Ubisoft team's part, very discourteous.

I have gotten far fewer (none?) since I started using the hardcore torpedos mod. Course I also haven't started a campaign after the fish get fixed.

Seems like the best thing would be to bring down the tonnage inflation.

- Lower spawn frequency
- increase AI to keep the player down
- reduce tonnage awarded
- increase dud rate
- make ships harder to sink.

It would probably take a mod coctail of all of the above to reduce MOH awards, and even then with the criteria listed, someone could probably STILL get one if their persistant enough. Like i said, a MOH is usually accompanied by a eulogy :88) You know.. jumping on a grenade, or telling your sub to dive without you while you slam the hatch shut while on the bridge, that sort of thing.

Of the seven Medals of Honor awarded to American submarine crew, 3 were awarded posthumously. More info here:

When I was first playing with stock SH4, seven of them were awarded, well, to ME. Or it seemed like that many, anyway.

I probably got one for each yamato I sank ;)
