Hey guys, I recently got this game despite it being more than 2 years old and SH4 out because: 1. I find the Germans and Atlantic theatre cooler. 2. My computer can't support SH4... But I'm glad to see that many people still play and stay loyal to SH3.

So anyways, I managed to play/practice enough to be able to play 100% setting comfortably and I also tried GWX. I never played beyond 1940, so I don't have any experience with all the late toys.

So as for the main reason I joined the community: I have several questions I gave up searching on the web.

-Is there a way to skip Naval training and just recieve the reknown points by editing a file? I think I know which file I'm suppose to edit, but I don't what to edit.

-When I played the original version, I got a chart from some sonar trainer mod to determine merchant ship speed by listening to their propellor RPM using hydrophone. When I installed GWX I noticed there were tons of new ships and the original ones were modified. So it was impossible to use the hydrophone the same way. So is there a hydrophone chart for the GWX like the original one?

I'm pretty sure I had more questions but I can't remember them right now. But thanks in advance to anyone who answers the above two.

you could earn renown by sinking enemy ships in the career mode.
in a bathtub (type II) it is a bit frustrating cous it has only 6 torpedo's.
but everyone has to start from the bottom row ;)

and about the sonar thing... i let the crew do that.. its not the captains task

I meant the renown you get after completing the training. I already did the training twice, so I don't want to do it again.

looney: would you send me the zip file if I gave you my email through PM? :hmm:

Another fresh swabbie checking in here. Just got SH3, and am downloading GWX. Looking forward to working my way up from the lowly IIA.

I've done three of the tutorials so far. The little ones are already mesmerized, and my boy (five years old) has re-enacted the deck-gun exercise with his Legos. He really liked the flying debris.

Edit: so I'm a bilge rat, is it? OK, it's a life form, at least.

Everyone starts out that way. Welcome jazman and frenema.

Take your time learning the basics, don't get too frustrated, and work your way up to 100% realism (if that is indeed a goal for you. It needn't be).
