Dear all,

I have recently started playing SHIII and am also new to these forums. I have two concerns which pestered me while I was on patrol in career mode:

1. How does one pull up the recognition manuals for merchant ships? The only pages I'm able to leaf through are the warship manuals. I've tried clicking all over those books and pressing various combinations of keys but can't figure it out.

2. What do the red exclamation points next to crew members in the crew management mode mean? Is it that they have low "Endurance"? If so, will their endurance rise if they're relegated to either the fore or aft quarters?

Thanks in advance!

1. In the guide, it's the one that doesnt have a flag of any country next to it. sorry I forgot what it's called. But it comes before the countries that begin with the letter A.

2. It means they are tired and need to go to the quarters. Yes it will rise, though slowly. Also, be advised it is much easier to control the fatigue levels of you crew if you carry less of them. I'm in a type VII and I carry 39 men. 5 of whom are officers.

Wilkommen sum Subsim Herr Kaluen!

1. Depending on the mods you use you should be looking for a cover that says either merchants or Handelschiff.

2. It means they are fatigued poor dears. Put them to bed for eight hours gamte time or so and they should be right as rain. Welcome to fatigue management. Personally I use SH3Commander to turn fatigue off as I'm a skipper not an NCO and don't have the luxury of an easy to use rostering system. Some people love playing "Sims" with their sailors some don't. It is worth learning to use the fatigue management so you can decided what you want to do.

Check out the newbie thread and the community manual which covers most of this sort of thing. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=96026

Welcome to this forum!

About crew management:
Resting and getting tired only happens at a time compression of 32x or less.
Time compression of above 32x (can only be done in F5 map view) will not affect the crew.

Hi and welcome:up:

1. When in Uzo or periscope view, click, or is it doubleclick:hmm: , where it says Ship on the notepad. That will open the rec. manual on the relevant page for the ship you are looking at:yep:
2. Having an medic in quarters is said to speed up the recovering of tired crew members, medals and promotions will make your crew less tired.
