Hey I just upgraded my pc to Vista 64 bit with a new processor and motherboard and I have started playing SH4 and find that my sound is VERY choppy at times, escpecially when viewing through the periscope and in external camera underwater, but my framerate is good. I am using the motherboard's HD integrated audio ports and drivers. Can somebody please help?

I notice that it is related to the settings that i have set in the game. Would using an actual sound card instead of the HD intigrated audio on my motherboard be better?

What motherboard do you have?

Try cutting off that "real time environmental sound" option, or whatever they call it. Then make sure your sound card drivers are updated.

I don't have a seperate sound card to update, it is the HD integrated audio on the motherboard. It is an intel pentium d motherboard.

Reduce you hardware acceleration on your sound panel. Usually this helps.

Even though it is an intergrated sound card it still requires drivers which possibly need updated. Espicially if you just updated operating system. Also you should know that many pieces of hardware out there have no drivers specifically for Vista available. The manufacturers are relying on legacy software and crossing there fingers.

The integrated audio can be disabled and a discreete sound card can be installed (shrug).

But yea try disabling the hardware acceleration.
