The book "Find 'Em, Chase 'Em, Sink,'Em the Mysterious Loss of the WWII Submarine USS Gudgeon" is the story of the first submarine to go on war patrol after Pearl Harbor, leaving on Dec.12, 1941 for the Bungo Suido Straits of Japan. This was the ground breaking war patrol for all the submarines that followed her.
It's the first book written about Gudgeon who was one of the top submarines with 24 sinkings of 166,000 tons and awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.
It wasn't written by a crew member but by a nephew of a crew member who decided to research the April 1944 loss of the boat. It's a diiferent kind of book, not written by the Captain about his officers but about the crew that made the officers heros.
