I know in SHIII you could set a spread of multiple torpedos but I can't seem to figure out where to set that in SHIV. Is this possible?
I hope this has not been addressed elsewhere, I did not see it anywhere else.
Thank you for your replys. :D

No, in US subs they fired one at a time for a spead I guess.

The fleet boats did not have that same control for salvos as the u-boats did (like in SH3). There was only one dial on the gyro angle offset on the TDC so a new angle had to be entered after each shot, just like how it is done in game.

Previous post explaining how it worked (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=519834#post519834)

It can be modded to enable salvo's as in SH3.I was looking for a way to be able to open all torpedo doors with one command using the SH3 TDC,which can also be done, but I'm no good at graphic's so I gave up. But I am able to fire salvo's although I only use it for opening multiple doors quickly.

Thanks for the answers you guys.

One question though why is there a spread angle dial? Is this so that each additional shot is set to that angle that you choose. Did I see this correctly?

Hmm, sort of. You're not setting a gyro angle with the spread dial, what you're doing is setting an offset from the solution you've calculated. For instance, add 2 degrees to the calculated gyro angle, or subtract 3 degrees from it, etc.

Like Nightmare said, you can't set the spread angle seperately for each tube. There's only 1 dial for all tubes. So if you set tube 1 to -1.5 degrees, then the next tube you select is also set for -1.5. When you select the next tube to be fired, you'll need to reset the spread angle to suit your needs for that shot. And so on for each tube you fire.

One thing you can do to make "salvos" easier is get a mod that allows you to have all tubes open at once. Or, edit your commands.cfg file yourself to allow that. You still won't be able to fire a true salvo but you'll be able to fire all your tubes as fast as you can select 'em and set the spread angle - no waiting for each tube to open. Check the mods forum and you'll find what you need!

Yes, it's meant to set up a "fan" shot, when you need it.

Here we go

Go to your Persicope screen and select tube 1
Click you speed selection to high
type q
type w
Set to high with mouse click
type q
type w
set to high with mouse
type q

Slide back up to tube 2
Set offset by 2-3 direction of travel
hit w
set offset by 2.3 directon of travel

Click back to tube 1

line up your target hit l for lock to provide TDC input

Hit enter when ready
hit w
Hit enter
hit w
Hit enter..

Q opens that tubes muzzle so don't run arond with the muzzles open for log or your torp will misfire or malfunction i'd say 5 minutes no more

You've got three torps running hot and true and depending on T & D as well as you aim point and offset you should have a fairly decent spread with minimal seperation

i love sinking BB's and CV's like this usually 3 will do the job

Oh don't forget to set each tube to the appropriate depth and switch to contact if you want...

FWIW, in RL, they spaced the torpedos by 8 to 10 seconds to avoid codetonations in the case of a premature, and also to avoid one fish settign off the influence trigger of another.

As a result, firing all at once was not part of US doctrine.

The speed and depth can be pre-set for each tube.

Gyro / offset angle must be set prior to firing for each tube as the angle will remain the same as you change tubes unless you change it.

The trigger type in actuality doesent do a damn thing (in the game) so I dont bother with it anymore.
