Just really started playing since 1.3 was released. Some observations after a short session:

1. The Gamma setting changed the gamma on my entire computer, including all of my other games and even my desktop. Man, that is very poor programming. It's also the kind of thing that really infuriates people and turns them off to your game. You really don't want the settings in your game affecting your entire computer.

2. No hot-key (keyboard command) for the Attack Map?

3. I was under attack and in Silent Running when all of a sudden I hear a loud whistle and a guy yelling about a watch change. Too funny. It's small details like this that can really kill the immersion....something that is very important in a game like this.

4. I keep hearing what appears to be a woman's voice calling out bearing readings. A woman serving on a WWII sub? Again, a small detail that kills the immersion. What were the devs thinking?

5. I'm surprised at the low frame rates. Although I have almost all the graphic settings on high, I have a fast computer and expected the game to run a lot faster.

1. This was adressed before, try with Ati Tray Tools and make 2 profiles with the settings you like, one for SH4, the other for your desktop.
2. Ask the mods/devs if that can be modified.
3. If you are still alive, then live with it. I kinda like that whistle...:lol:
4. Try to update your sound drivers, add maximum effect of the sound in-game settings, and if the problem persists, please record it so I can add it my own. I'd really like that. For real!:yep:
5. DEFRAGMENT your hard disk full, restart, disable all/any secutity software in realtime [antivirus, firewall, antispyware or equivalent security suite] and other unnecessary programs, disable explorer.exe [CTRL+ALT+DELETE, then find explorer.exe and kill the process, you will lose your desktop] and start the game in task manager by File>New Task (Run).... The rest you probably know...
Once you are done, do the New task, enter explorer.exe and you are set!
Post back all/any improvements!:up:

That much you can definately fix. Edit C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Cfg\commands.cfg and change [cmd 34] to:

[Cmd34]
Name=Attack_2D_map
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F020009
Key0=0x75,s,"SHIFT F6"
Page=0x32000000,3741

Shift-F6 will then bring up the attack map. If you don't like that key, sub in the correct hex code and description! That's how I've got it set up, except I don't use the keyboard, I use Shoot! which is programmed to send Shift-F6 when I say "Attack Map". Very convenient :up:

When going into battle, go to BATTLESTATIONS !!
Then everybody on the sub is working on staying ALIVE....

That doesn't happen on my nVidia 7800 card :hmm:

Because it is an ATI related bug. See higher up in the thread.

Might want to lower you AA via the ATI tray tool. This should help with FPS.

The devs made SH4 thinking to the future probably. Playing the game using my old ati x800xl was not so bad, enviromental effect activated only, just about 30 fps. 1 week ago I changed my old ati with a 8800 gts 320mb, and... mygod!!! :sunny:
Now I can play SH4 with all settings on high, volumetric fog included, antialias and anisotropic filters activated, and it runs at about 55/60 fps (vsinc activated).
Not so bad... :lol:
