View Full Version : BDU Informs
28 December 1942
BDU confirmed today that U-67 under the command of Kptlt. Heinz Bucher has failed to return. All hands are presumed lost.
U-67 Left Lorient on 25 September with orders to patrol off the Northeastern coast of the USA. On the same day, it was attacked by a British aircraft, which the flack gunners drove away.
The U boat's last communication was on 28 September, reporting a large, heavily escorted British convoy on BE9358.
Kplt. Bucher was an experienced commander and veteran of 18 patrols.

I got a glimpse at what lies ahead. lots of destroyers who see you before you do, an aircraft carrier and a submarine. Buggers sent 5 destroyers to do the tap dance. I was afraid of going too deep due to gunfire damage. Hull crushed at 180 meters.

A big S! to the fallen U-67 crew. (Gott, we've been losing a lot of boats lately. I hope this isn't some sort of trend!)
