The scope in 1.3 has range of 8,000/20,000/60,000.
Is this meter or yards?

any help would nice.

Meter. The letter M before x 100 in this pic. Sorry about that if you were hopeing imperial as I was. :damn:

its yards. The grafic shows M for meter because they forgot to change it. Its still yards when you use imperial system.

1 yard = 9,144 m
1 naut. mile = 1644 yards

Opps, you did make an error of factor 10!

1 yard = 0.9144 m

Therefore the difference between yards and meters are not so important, the difference is not great.

Also, 1 nautic mile = 2025.372 yards (ref Wikipedia).

I'm guessing the distances are in yards.

The "m" is for "magnification", I think.

If I just broke down and switched to metric instead of the more historical imperial, would everything definitely be in meters? I ask because I am getting overwhelmed with concern in tight situations that maybe something is in "feet" instead of yards, meters instead of yards, etc. Plus, when I set the torp depth even with the new types of tropedoes at right about or a little above keel, they still often go under in totally placid waters. It makes me wonder if that's just the simulated error of torps at the time, or an error in the manual, or a conversion problem where it was rounded off from being converted from meters....

As you can see, I am beginning to geek on all those measurement system stuff. Been playing for a good long while and certain errors are hard to pinpoint at human or interface. Any advice?

The m is part of the larger range designator, i.e., "m X 100" means the "150" marking on the A-scope indicates 15000 meters. It's the same type of system one sees in a car's tachometer, where it says something like "RPM x 100."
