CTD at end of patrol!!

SOS!!! SOS!!!!

I've completed one of my best patrols using GWX 1.3 and SHIII Commander but when I ask to dock at Lorient I get a crash to the desktop!!

HELP!!!!! ANY IDEAS?!!!!!

What did I do wrong?!

Happened to me twice before.

AWAYS save before pressing the "dock at" button.

i think it's better to save while you are still at more than 50 km from the base, without contact.
Saving closer than that might cause also CTD or would cause oyu to loose your renown if you are too close to the docks. ;)

My last save is after I used my last torpedo.

If I load that game and choose "return to base" I crash to desktop as well.

Guys... I need solutions here. Help me out please. The game is not usuable as long as I cannot dock.

Could it be a problem with SHIII commander or GWX?

I loaded the saved game successfully withOUT SH3 commander. Are you saying that I should then simply save again, close out the program THEN start it up with SH3 commander and try to end the mission?

I assume that this problem wasn't there docking on the last patrol so you must have done something since then, did you add/enable a mod mid patrol? if so you may have to disable the mod then go back to the last good save, load it, complete the patrol, then enable mod. If this is not the case you may have done something in windows to cause it, hope this is of some help!:yep:

This is a continuing problem. I had the same problem during my last patrol and I thought it was a fluke. I tried to dock and the same thing happened. This current patrol was my "test" that it was just a fluke. As you can see, I'm hear weeping pleading for help so it's NOT a fluke.

The problem is somewhere from when I was in port prior to the mission to now.

Could it be the random weather mod I use? I only installed it in port though.

If I mod then I ALWAYS mod IN PORT.

Do I have to start campaign again? NO!!

i had the same problem on my 49th patrol :nope:
if it is exactly like that, then... there is nothing to do about it...
i had to start a new career :damn:

Certainly if the weather mod changes the scr mis file then a new campaign should be started.:yep:
What I do if SH3 becomes unstable/corrupted:
1) Roll back sh3 commander.
2) Disable all mods assuming your using JSGME, then delete the backup folder.
3) I have ... it is a BIG MUST: delete SH3 folder & using a sh3 1.4 stock backup, copy to new sh3 folder! See Note.
4) Enable your mods.
5) Run SH3 & load last save at patrol END (home base), redo the promotions etc.
6) Exit SH3.
6) Run SH3 Commander & launch a new patrol.
Done. Always works!:yep:

Note: When you've installed SH3 to 1.4b stock, then copy to a DVD, then it's allways there ready to restore to stock 1.4b, & no need to uninstall.

Okay... this all started with retched little patrol 25. I went back last night and started my saved game all the way back at number 24. Left Lorient, got 30 kms away, stopped and asked to dock. Sure enough, NO MORE CTD!!!! WHEW!!!

I was damned lucky on this one!

BUT... who knows... the problem may occur again. We'll see and I'll keep you all updated.

So. A happy ending I guess. keep your fingers crossed.
