I made a post earlier this week about my torpedo's exploding when they hit the ship but not damaging the ship. Well its still happening, Its 1939 and im using T-5 [G7es] Zaunkönig II Acoustic torpedos, the first one i fired didnt even "track" the ship but the second one i fired "locked on target" and hit, but caused no damage, the ship went on cruising. Now im using SH3 Mini Tweaker to give my torpedos a bit more killing power, here r the numbers i used the min EF is 200 and the max EF is 300, the minRadius is 100 and the MaxRadius is 150, are those numbers to high? cause i was thinking that if they were too big then the game just makes them useless.? does anyone understand my problem. Cause the Torpedo Damage mod is working, cause i sunk the ship with my deck gun and by the time i got done the ship looked like swiss cheese.
I remeber someone saying that i cant use T-5 [G7es] Zaunkönig II Acoustic torpedos in 1939 and that i will have to wait till i think 1943. Can someone please help me. I dont really have alot of time to play this game so when i do i like to "better" myself haha, :arrgh!::arrgh!:

you're using acoustics in 1939?
that might have something to do with it.
probably something that is hard coded? since the acoustic fish didnt exist in 1939 they probably wont cause damage to anything.
to test this theory out... fire a torpedo at a ship that is coning AT you... set the torpedo running depth to about 15 - 20 meters and go ahed flank toward the target ship to try and set yourself up to be hit by your own torpedo - if it hits you and causes NO damage to your boat you know that there is an issue with acousics not properly being modeled before mid war

Um no i had a made memory of that once, it took out everyone in the front of the ship and killed half my crew, im using Wolfies tweak pak to have T-5 [G7es] Zaunkönig II Acoustic torpedos in 1939. What torpedos did they have in 1939, cause i love using Acoustic torpedos.

Straight running T1 steamers with impact or magnetic pistols. thats pretty much it. WW1 era stuff pretty much.
you might already know... but you have to mathematically plan it so that the torpedo is aimed in such a way that the target and the torpedo end up in the same place at the same time.
edit: just for reference to how widely used the T-5 [G7es] Zaunkönig was... about 640 were fired in combat claiming 45 ships sunk. thats an average of 14 T-5 [G7es] Zaunkönig fired to sink ONE ship... not the best rate of success

Yeah i know that but my weapons officer has a Masters in Math from U of Berlin so he'll be doing that :know::know:

I usually run with T1s all the way to the end of the war.
T1s have greater range than the electric torpedos
T1s seem to have a lower failure rate than the electric torpedoes (my opinion)
T1s have variable speed.
T1s just seem to fit my strategic mindset better than T2s = which is to get in as close to the target as possible. this helps to ensure a hit because shorter range means less travel time for the torpedo decreasing the odds of premature detonation, it also reduces the target's evasive options.
I will usually only load T2s into the stern tube(s) and only one into the bow tubes in reserve for defensive purposes only.
I like the T-5 [G7es] Zaunkönig torpedos but - i feel like SH3 simulates WAY too much of a level of dependability on the T5s. like i said - 1 kill per 14 shots is not that great in real life... but with the acoustics in SH3 i easily get 1 kill per 1 or 2 shots.
