im playing on full realism bar external view i approached a convoy with 2 DD's and two old liners targeted the first liner 2 hits and the torpedos did no damage ! they were not duds so what wrong game runining on a clean install and 1.3

Oh you can pump torp after torp into liners and still not appear to do damage, but I've never known two to slow a liner down much. So just keep pumping them full of torpedoey goodness and it will go down eventually.

I have noticed even before 1.3 that fish occasionally do not make any visible damage for some reason. Even if 3D damage is maxed. :ping:

The torpedo does damage at a certain value, between x and y. The visible holes can only be seen when the damage is more than a threshold. The threshold value is between x and y, therefore you won't always see the holes. Rest assured, (if it's no dud, premature or something like that) it will do damage, eventhough you won't see it, the damage will be there.

Hit the liner near the bow and then under the stack. Two Mk14s will get it done for you.

Running depth is important too. Not too deep and not too shallow.

This has to do with the torpedoes always being on Magnetic as Nomad has been testing and proving. Even if set to Contact fuse, many of those torpedoes will explode just before actually striking the hull and thus the damage isn't as great.

i followed the torps in on external both hit just under the bridge and didnt even slow down
