In other words: how much would you be ready to pay for a product featuring the SH4 improvements on an Atlantic campaign?

I have to say myself that IŽd like to see an expansion pack, with a little more emphasis on the campaign part of the game.

I voted for An expansion pack. Mostly a conversion of the improvements of SH4, with a few new details, but still i would be more happy with "Destroyer Command II-Pacific Hunters" !

I voted for a new game, but an expansion pack works just as well for me. I would love to see constant improvements, or somewhere down the road a whole new game incorporating features not even developed yet.:sunny:

I'll only ever go to the Atlantic to SINK U-boats.

I voted for a new game. What with duo and quad processing power and upgraded cards and all that kewl stuff...there's a veritable TON of things we can now simulate which will make SH3 look like something from a cracker jack box.

So, new game for me. :yep:

I'd pay a premium for an expanded development timeline, with plenty of technical input from the brilliant minds of those around here who seem to know every bit of naval minutae regarding the Battle of the Atlantic (I'm looking at you, Sailor Steve....amongst others here!)

Expansions as not enough time has passed since SH4. Plus to improve the engine enough to warrant a whole new game would not be doable right now as not enough people would have PC's to benefit from it.

Silly anyway as it's just too soon to talk about SH5. That's a few years away. An expansion however could be done in shorter time. The problem is it's not like a typical expansion in the EA games Battlefield or the Sims sense. You're talking about detailed units for AI and player, 3d rooms (command room) and harbours plus much more.

Personally i'd love a Destroyer command 2 followed by an Atlantic expansion. But not using U-Boats. I want to be Brittish! (Don't tell any pohms an Aussie said that!)

The best bet would be many expansions... I'm sure some Dutch people would like to try their subs in the Pacific.

Yep, add a destroyer or other capital ship version to it and I'll return to the Atlantic.

I agree on this, we need a new WW2 naval battle sim not a subsim, kind of tired playing subs all the time.

Yes I agree too, we need a surface sim now DC2 or similar. Most of the groundwork has already been done in SH4. The destroyer models are there, the world is there, the radar and sonar simulation is there.

Same. That would be really fun. On the subject of using something other than subs I can say I am still waiting for that pt boats game.

Anyway, I just love uboats and would be happy to see an SH5 in a few years with all kinds of fantastic effects.

I have to add that even thought I voted for an expansion pack, IŽd be more than happy with a completely new game based on and beneath the Atlantic. The big plus side of an expansion would of course be the earlier release. :D

For me the uboats are the number one thing, but a game combining a sub and destroyer sim would be interesting. But if I had to choose between an average game containing both or an excellent game based around just subs, my choice would definetly be the latter.

Oh, you crazy kids will never know the true joys of sailing your Type IX to the turquiose seas of the Carribbean to sink oil tankers in the sun.

I chose the Expansion Pack route for 3 reasons:

1) Hopefully this will/can be done relatively quickly.

2) By improving/adding to the current SH4 engine any design team should have a base to work on and a firm idea of the games problems...even with the latest patch. I shudder to think about SH5 started from scratch based on UBI's historical performance with the SH series.

3) Ditto
