Usually, patches make save games incompatible... but I would try it like you stated above: While in port.

Shifts? What are those? ;)

To answer your question, if you patch when you are in the 2-D world (ie the office) you should be OK. Never mod or patch when in a mission or on patrol.

Here I am in my office in Pearl. Truncated a hugely successful cruise with fuel in the tanks and 5 unexpended pickles to be in port for this upgrade. Yeah, don't give me a hard time about my 120,000 tons, I know it's unrealistic. I know I have to reinstall RFB and do it right. But it was darn fun working with full manual settings for the first time.

Now I'm chewing up all the pencils Uncle Sam put in this office until the patch comes out. Don't even want to talk about what Admiral Lockwood said about returning with half a tank of diesel and 5 pickles. Chewed me out and handed me a medal. Didn't even care about the update. How do you figure it?

This is is murder. 1207 Zulu and six hours to go. I'd go celebrate the cruise but this has gotta get done first. I'd rather be sneaking under a destroyer on the way to a fat juicy convoy. Looks like this trial career has taken on a life of its own and I'll just continue it until the word comes down that RFB and some of the mods I like are working right. Can't say it isn't fun.

Darn! Don't they have any more freakin pencils in this office?
