View Full Version : My first impression on GWX
In my first patrol, I have noticed that everything is darker.
The sub is darker while submerged, nights are darker. Is it my perception or is it actually darker because of GWX?
Also i was not able to lower the boat (decks awash) as everyone is suggesting, when i set depth to 6m, hatches are closed and boat is considered submerged while 3/4 of the boat is on surface.
Also, Manual says 10x mag for periscope is implemented for GWX, i see nothing but a big 6x on the side of periscope view?
I have also noticed the sub is not following my depth comands accurately, 100m set and it lowers to 86m and than the boat stands still. Also when i order to drop down to 100m again, the boat stands still? for i decide to raise to 60m, the boat responds late taking ages to respond to 60m??

Underwater visibility has been reduced you can change this using SH3Cmdr. As for the overall darkness of GWX, some will say it's dark, some will say it's too light. It comes down to the monitor/GFX card it's viewed on.
Also i was not able to lower the boat (decks awash) as everyone is suggesting, when i set depth to 6m, hatches are closed and boat is considered submerged while 3/4 of the boat is on surface.
Set depth to between 7-8m, your crew will remain on deck until you hit 8m.

Hmm, Periscope or Obs Scope? The periscope (in my install) reads & zooms to 10x whereas the OBS (IIRC) is limited. You did zoom in right?

This will be due to the positive boyancy changes made to the subs behaviour, you should only experience this if your making 1-2kts only, any faster and your boat will hit the depth you set. For instance, make 5kts to 100m and then set 1-2kts and your boat will rise.

Mentat, have you updated GWX to version 1.03?
If not, you should.
Set depth to between 7-8m, your crew will remain on deck until you hit 8m.
So they will remain on deck if i set the depth to 7m but not when i set it to 6m??? How come???

It is the periscope.. I dont understand? Of course i zoomed in (via wheel) Is there a special key command to activate it??

Basic Install of GWX
1) Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2) Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3) Reinstall SH3
4) If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5) OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6) Visit the GWX homepage (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/GWX/index.html) and download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7) Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9) SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Visit the GWX homepage (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/GWX/index.html) and download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

If you are submerged, first surface with S key. Then click on the shallow depth dial between 7 and 8, just before 8, let's say at 7,9.
And give the boat some time to reach the right depth. The crew should stay up and the boat should go low in the water, with only the tower and the gun above.
