I came to realize the attention to realism was more than I thought in a conversation I had with a friend of mine about Silent Hunter III.

I went on to say that I'd found a weakness in the Medium Cargo so I 'd only have to use 1 torpedo. I found that if I put it just forward of the screws before the hull curved inward, I'd get a whole lot of secondary explosions that sends the ship into a roman candle. I told him I thought maybe I ignited the fuel going to the engine room.

My friend, being an ex-Navy navigator, says no. If water gets into the boilers that would cause a rupture leading to all the secondaries. If that's the case, than major props to the GWX team for realism.

Whether this is the case or not, I have found the achilles heel of the Medium Cargo.

GWX has a deep and consistent research in the realism area, and I dare to say that not a single bolt in SH3 has been left untouched to improve that. However, the beautiful graphics and lots of contents added tend to outshine at a first glance the more subtle work in physics and realism. Yet beauty is not only skin-deep in this mod, as you learn by playing it more :D

I am more used to the NYGM "realism" aspect, but GWX has at least the same amount of research and changes -if not more- than that one (Which is usually taken as reference for realistic gameplay).
