To be serious; Do you mean the lack of snow in SHIII?

Hmmm...yeah, that is a good point. Sure does rain a lot, but...no snow.
That seems like a pretty obvious thing to mod, though - has it never been done?

I'd have thought you'd seen so much rain you would be glad there weren't any snow

Why would you want snow? Or do you want to throw snowballs at Bernard for being useless!

Snow is planned for GWX 1.5. Each flake will be modelled as a completely unique entity. (The team is currently trying various workarounds for the limitations of processing power: currently, players whose campaigns have spent a lot of time in northern latitudes will begin to see snowflake patterns repeating by about January 1945. This has been deemed unacceptable in its present state and will not make the 1.4 release.)

I've seen a photo of Kiel harbor in the winter of 1939-1940, and at the time the picture was taken the harbor was iced over! Brutal!:dead:

JULY 1940
German Raiders - Only 11 months before Germany attacked Russia, “Komet” sailed for the Pacific through the North East Passage across the top of Siberia with the aid of Russian icebreakers. She operated in the Pacific and Indian Oceans until returning to Germany in November 1941, the last of the first wave of surface raiders to leave Germany.
... anyone got icebreaker models handy? :arrgh!:

Back OT!
Snow can be added to the game BUT it will replace the rain. Snow fall is achieved by enlarging & slowing down the current rain drops. Of course, it will not settle. So there is no reason why you couldn't just enable the changes during winter months or northern areas of operation.
For the people who don't seem to get the point.
There will be NO GWX 1.05

That seems a pretty easy candidate for Sh3 Commander, then.
Given that "the snow won't settle" (of course), I would suspect we'd want to make a few more changes. Busy work changes, mostly, really:
- Have a duplicate for every skin so far shipped to cover 'winter months' with snow and ice already built up on them
- Different water textures that look...ummm...even greyer?
- As noted, a different routine for 'rain' in these months or regions. More common, perhaps, but slower falling and with larger "drops".
The steps necessary to do this with Sh3Commander should probably be taken into their own thread - it's not complicated work, but a GREAT VOLUME of it. It would add a ton of immersion, though - those Murmansk convoys in the winter would be amazing with a blizzard blowing and the deck of the U-Boat and convoy ships covered in ice...
IIRC _Seth_ did a few ice skins. You could always post a request for the SHIIICommander mod to do it.

I've seen some, but for this to really be amazing, you'd need to go even further.
Not just the subs, but all surface ships, the ground textures, buildings, etc.
Imagine how amazing that would look! Hmm...I've definitely wanted to contribute something to this game (I've participated in the mod community for several others, but most make easier use of 3dSMax), and I'm wicked good with Photoshop. Hmmm....going to do some more research on this topic, I think. Only real issue (and, of course, it's a big one) is that texturing in this game is...bizarre, to say the least.
