Not sure, but if our subs have two screws then should'nt we have the ability to control each independent of the other? Like "Port engine ahead 1/3, stbd back 1/3" for tighter turns? Is this a bug or left out game function that has already been discussed? If not, would this be mod'able?

It would be the best improvement for SHIV,but it's like going where no man has gone before.:yep:

That's too bad. Can't remember what sim I played in the past that had it but it sure added alot of realism to the experience.

As far as I know the screws were never modelled as induvidual niether in SH3 nor in SH4. You can see this when one engine is recharging and the other one is operating normal. You should run in a circle now, because in both games the rudder is still at amidships position. ;)

US subs where very different from German ones, they had five diesel engines (4 main ones and 1 small one) and could run both screws whilst charging batteries. So i believe the devs got that one right. However, as some have noticed the screws actually turn in the wrong direction:oops::lol:

I think it was a little misunderstanding here.....OK, with what you've said then there is a fault in SH4 because at least my S-18-Boat stops one screw while recharging.

I meant something else: the games physics doesn't consider each screw for itself, because in both SH-Titles your sub sails steady as she goes with only one screw functional.
Normally you'd have to compensate the "dead" screw by using the rudder from preventing the boat to turn, but that isn't done because your rudder is still amidships.

most american fleet subs had four engines they would just use one from each bank to recharge
