Downloadable version
The downloadable version of Shipsim 2008 is now available for purchase at the ship sim 2008 site (http://www.shipsim.com/features/environments.php) .

Boxed version
Not sure about the other territories but the boxed version should hit UK stores next week. I think it's due in the US in Aug/Sept

Not sure yet about 2008 yet (Im waiying for the boxed edition) but the boxed UK version of the original SS2006 that I have certainally did not seem to have Starforce, there is no popup when starting the game and the game runs without any CD being in the drive.

Aside from SH3 the only other naval games I know for sure contain Starforce are Virtual Skipper 3 & 4, Enigma Rising Tide and Age of Pirates.

ERT has a starforce removal and a nocd patch out I believe through their site.

Starforce usually won't advertise itself. I am pretty sure 2006 had it, which is why I avoided the software alltogether.

These posts (http://www.lighthouse-interactive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=911&highlight=starforce) on the Lighthouse interactive forums indicate that neither the Euro version released by Ligthouse or the US version released by Dreamcatcher had Starforce copy protection. Furthermore the Lighthouse admin categorically states that Lighthouse wouldn't use Starforce so that probably applies to the new version too.
