I can't get SH4 to run in my new machine with Vista when I install RFB 1.28.

I have everything running in XP compatability mode, have administrator ownership, and all the permissions turned on.

I have installed it with JSGME.

When I deactivate the mod it runs ok.

Ideas?

Welcome Doomer, Are you using a saved game or do you start back in-port after applying the RFB mod?

New Vista user, no problems with RFB 1.28.
You did open the zip-file before using JSGME?
You could also check JSGME help to see everything is ok in your folders.

This is on a clean install patched to 1.2. The only mod enabled is RFB 1.28.

I also have this on another machine running XP and it works fine.

I installed it on the vista machine the same way.

Not sure, but it could be related to Vista data redirection. Certain locations (including Program Files) are now considered more secure than they used to be. To avoid breaking legacy apps, writes to these locations can be silently redirected by the file system driver to another location (I think somewhere under your user folder).

Anyway, make sure you are running JGSME itself elevated. Also, check manually that the files you think are being modified under the SH4 folder are actually modified after installing the mod.

Just a thought, you say you have SHIV running in XP compatibility mode. Installing the RFB 1.28 changes the files in SHIV which might make the game not run when trying to use SHIV with the RFB 1.28. I run the RFB mod on Vista Ultimate and SHIV patched to 1.2 and with no problems. Try turning the XP compatibility off and try running it again. SHIV is Vista ready.

I found the problem.

Thru process of elimination I one by one added the folders from the RFB mod and enabled them.

The one labeled Movies caused the crash. I think all this does is remove the intro movies correct?

Anyway by leaving that one out everything works fine.
