For me, because of where I'm located, close to the mountains, its that I see them once and hear them twice. I especially like the mortars with the big BOOM!

I live in the unincorporated part of Jefferson County, CO and now we have the bottle rockets and M80s of my youth exploding. Memories.

And imagine that - I still have all my fingers when I had the same! :D
Maybe we should start requiring helmets at firework party's? :smug: We could get hurt!

When they use them in a movie during a sex scene. Same with trains going into tunnels.

I haven't seen those allusions in any modern film. You are correct of course, that is exactly what the movie makers were trying to convey.

...watching your neighbour catch a tree on fire (for 3 min)
...waiting til it's really dark, then bustin' out the black powder .44 Confederate Colt-Navy and shootin' it as fast as you can.:arrgh!:

...oops, almost forgot, adding 30 grains of FFFF black powder to your fireworks!:/\\x:
The best thing about fireworks is when some lefty do-gooder decides to ban the sale of the really cool ones (6" morter) because some idiot headmaster at a school display get's his heasd blown off in a one-time freak accident because he loaded the charge incorrectly, then looked down the tube to see why it hadn't gone off.
Honestly I think the UK needs to trust it's populace with fireworks, despite the above accident and the actions in antiquity of a certain guido fawkes. :hmm:
