Greetings all!

First post ever! Hooray! I've had SH3 for awhile now. But only recently downloaded GWX. Let me tell you this thing is great. I just had one question for you guys on here.

I've only been doing the training missions. Played one career run on easy. But got bored really quickly with the pointing and shooting. So i decided to run on 100% realism. GWX and SH3 Commander add-ons. My question is for convoys. I've run into plenty of single ships. But, convoys i thought would be a different story.

After plotting my intercept plot and get into firing position. How would i go about with the aiming after i los my first fish? Would I have to redo all the aiming steps for a new ship? I've read in the manual convoys follow the same speed and heading. This is taken from the manual.

"The key element to remember when attacking a convoy is that all ships share
course and speed. Once you determine those factors for one merchant, you can
quickly, to the limit of your torpedo loadout, attack a multitude of targets.

For a non-maneuvering target, the TDC will automatically correct the angle on bow
in relation to the bearing transmitted by the optics. As the ship’s course will not
change, this is simply a matter of mathematical calculation. You can use this to
your advantage, because the calculator will also automatically correct the AOB
when you point the optic at another ship traveling on the same course – as in, you
guessed it, a convoy. "

What exactly does that mean? Thanks for your time. Good Hunting

Herzlich Willkommen, Vindal!

You're going to go far in the Kriegsmarine -- that was an excellent observation. But I doubt it's quite that simple (i.e. just pointing the crosshairs at another ship), because each ship will be at a different distance from you, so the range might need adjusting for each shot. I can see how your initial firing solution could be re-used for the ships immediately next to & behind the first target, though.

Welcome Mate!

I'm not a manual targeter myself but the bit you've found is correct, once you move the scope to for example the ship behind the one you just shot at, the aob will automatically be updated by the TDC, speed is of course the same, so you can leave that as is, then all you need to do is re-establish range, this can be guesstimated based on range to the initial target or you can measure it again using the stadimeter, then input it into the TDC open the tube door(s) and fire.

There'll probably be someone along shortly who can answer your question more specifically, or point you to a tutorial. :D
