APR-1 in SHCE

in the data-card of SHCE is a picture(from scenario editor), and a table were it sais there is a APR-1 Radar detection system.
also in the SPEECH map, tere is a audiofile telling "radio transmissions detected by apr-1" but i never hear that sound, and cant set it as equipment in the editor.

IS the APR-1 available in SHCE???

That's a good question! In all the poking around the radar systems of SH1/SHCE that Frank and I did we never found it. Historically it should be on/near the radar screens. The early model had a screen/display with a needle that rose with the strength of the contact. I've heard that the unit may have had an audio warning as well. The full name is AN/APR-1 Radar Detector. I think it was something that was planned and dropped at the last minute for some reason. If anyone has some
opinions about this, I'd be glad to hear them!

i think also it is dropped.
is it also not availible in SH1, or only in SHCE?
it would be nice if that radar system is availible.

After looking over my old notes from Subsim.com Ezboard (circa July 2001), I've decided to look into this topic of American and IJN radar capabilities in SH1. While the radars of the American submarines in SH1 is well documented, next to nothing exists about the Japanese radar capabilities. Anecdotal evidence exists. I think a lot of people here could relate an experience when they were attacked by IJN ships in conditions where only radar could've spotted the submarine. I'd like to dig into it in greater detail and tabulate what I learn so I can share the results with everyone here. :yep:
