Yeah I know, I've been around long enough that I shouldn't have to ask this stuff but here goes. I just installed SH3 and I was wondering which mods I should pick up. GWX and a few other look nice but, here is the kicker, I will let my system specs explain themselves.

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 1.6 ghz (Willamette core, old style 400FSB)
RAM: 1280 MB PC2100 (2x512s and a 256)
Video Card: BFG Nvidia GeForce 7600GS 512MB AGP (running at 4x cause thats what the board supports)

The odd time it will slow down and the graphics do go a little funny if I minimize but all and all I am suprised how well my system runs SH3. I am on my way to building a new PC but the old 1.6 will have to do for now. What do you guys think she can handle?

I reckon GWX will run for you :yep: give it a spin

I'm with Jim on this one (when am I not Jim ;)?). The benefits of what you will get if GWX runs okay totally outway the effort required to download and install it. If it causes problems you can always take it off again.

Looking at your specs I'd say you'll get some slowdowns but they won't be show-stoppers.

You may need to use the light harbour traffic if too choppy in port
But was a lot better than my old rig I was playing it on

Not many people realise it'll run on the old Amiga :rotfl:

That takes ne back BBW. I had a 512 which I 'upgraded' to a 1024 by de-soldering a multitude of filled holes on the main board and then soldering in 16 separate chips (each with 16 connections IIRC). It worked first time though and I was incredibly chuffed!

I got a worse pc than u and I can run SH3 with GWX with no probs (lite harbour traffic on though) also the lag when ships are rendered is sometimes a bit to obvious. To keep it to a minimum, don't use max TC to often

Harbour traffic and close ups of explosions and fire are the things that will make some sytems chug, drop frame rates. War Ace also has a light version, but what ever you decide to roll with you can also try dropping your particle density (video option) to boost pc's proccessing ability. I use a 256 AGP and heavy smoke effects are it's chore. You can also try different smoke mods.

If you're using GWX just enable the Little Harbour Traffic via JSGME
