Because I got infected with Trojan.Win32.Pakes.x3 and I turned off my antivirus...
HE INFECTED REGEDIT.EXE....
BUT, I have my laptop and restoring now....

Sorry just had to say that. Have you tried grabbiing it off your WinXP cd?

Or use system restore and go back a day before you lost it.

When ever i get a nasty like this i boot up in safemode and run my antivirus from there (dos window) if you can do that then your halfway there. Only other way what i would do is a system restore or a reformat and start again. But thats not the best advice someone else might have a better solution.

I once got a trojan virus a long time ago. I remember (I wasn't as savy with computers as I am now) actually ripping out the phone line from my modem so fast I nearly broke it.:88)

Now I just flip the switch on my router.
