So I'm in my Gato in the sea of Japan, lucked out on the way and found myself in the path of a taskforce with no less than 6 CVs, sunk 3 of em. Later on in the patrol, happened upon a huge convoy and sunk another bucket load, total tonnage 86,000 and I'm outta fish.

Since it was midnight I decided to save the game just as I'm leaving the area, 300ft down, 2kts, DD escorts depth charging an area about 1/2 a mile away.

But then after I'd saved I thought no I'm off back to Pearl, it won't take that long.

Leave the area, surface and head back. 3 game days later I get an air contact out of nowhere, crash dive but before I go under take a massive hit to the superstructure resulting in a sunk sub.

And decide to go to bed.

This afternoon I load up the save game I mentioned earlier and here's the situation: I'm at 300ft, 2kts, with massive damage and flooding to all compartments. 30 seconds later I sink.

Huh?

Try loading it again.

Did you take any damage prior to the air attack ?

Saving while submerged is not a good thing, at least it has not been for me :nope:

nope, no damage at all before the air attack.

Loading again results in same. Nothing I can do about it. 2nd time I tried loading it I went to flank speed, emergency blow ballast. Managed to get to the surface and immediate got sunk by the destroyers.

Sigh, Yes I'm afraid its a known bug. Saving while submerged can be hazardous to your carrier.

I (knock on wood) have not suffered this malody. But for now I save early and save often. I might add I save in all sorts of situations including submerged.

But if I do hit a corrupted one I have a previous one to fall back on. I save on average 4 times an hour.

I might also note that I keep 4 seperate saves and roll through them always overwrighting the oldest. Just in case ;)
