Ahoy All,
Finally got my SH4 machine. A Quad Thingy From Intel, every thing is running perfect ....... except there is no SH4 icon anywhere. Not on the destop and not in the UBI section of the start menu. The start menus only has:
- Reg Reminder
- Manual
- Readme
- Official Website
- Upgrade
The only way I can start SH4 is to insert the disk and then click PLAY.
Is this normal in Vista ... or ...??

Just make a shortcut yourself. Find the game on your hard drive and run it from there or create a shortcut to SH4.exe.

Ok, I can do that, thanks. But is it normal that no shortcut is created automatically ?

Vista / Normal .... uhhh no to either.
It happens sometimes usually due to registry corruption. Hope your installation is okay.
But yea find the .exe right click on it and create a shortcut. Drop that shorcut on your desktop.
good luck !!

Ah ok, when you wrote "Vista / Normal .... uhhh no to either." I was not sure what you meant.

Also you may have to give the exe admin rights, especially so if you want to add mods to game.

Vista got me for a while as well.
You'll find all the icons have been neatly stored away in the Start menu.
Hit the Start button and then in a part of the side of it, you'll see the link to Games. Not only does this have Solitaire, Minesweeper etc, but Vista in its wisdom puts all your installed game startup icons there as well. SH4, MSFSX, GTR2... All got dumped in there.
Once you know, it's easy to either drag them out or copy them to the desktop.
And yes, it'll help if you turn on Admin rights to the shortcut as well. Right-click and find it in one of the Properties pages.

No SH4 icon any where. Not even in the start menu > games :-(
Very strange
When I finaly get my rig (roll on end of July) I will be staying with XP at this point as I have little to no faith in Vista, after a few more service paks maybe but not anytime soon :nope:
Vista is bad news, long live XP.

Some stuff here on Vista, including some folks running with no real issues.

Been running it a day or 2 day. And I must say I really like it. Ofcourse it runs this smooth because I have upgraded my system too. And a few bugs here and there is no problemo for me. Nothing in my life is perfect , so why expect that from my operating system ? :D

I am on Vista as well, and have no problems. Of course, I am on a Dual Core machine with 4 GB RAM. I have not noticed any problems, but I did not have them with 98SE, or XP either, so I was not expecting Vista to be a savior of sorts. I just don't get that worked up over new hardware or programs.
Oh, and sorry for the delay in my reply. I was standing in line for the past 10 days waiting for the iphone.

I upgraded to Vista the week it hit the market and only had a few minor issues, such as the need to update a few drivers. Other than that, I've been pretty happy with it. It does have some nice features.
I run as administrator and things work fine. It put a desktop icon in place when I installed. I've had some problems getting mods to work/install correctly with JGSME but other than that I love it. I bought a Velocity Micro machine just for this game and I haven't been disappointed in the least.
:hmm: Drebbel, are you sure you told the install to make icons for SH4? :rotfl:
