View Full Version : Long, Frustrating Patrols?
Tired of cruising in an empty ocean? You could be only a few kilometers from a busy shipping lane full of juicy tankers and not even know it. Or you could be in an area that never sees a ship
Whether you play Stock, GWX or other career mod, the BDU intelligence map will guide you to more rewarding hunting grounds. It is easy to use and you'll see more action on your patrols.
The reported contacts give you date, type of target and who is credited for the report.
Participate and leave your mark on the Atlantic. We have a war we need to win!

Totally agree with the comments above! Logging your contacts then sending off the contact report(s) adds to the sense of realism as well as the satisfaction that you're adding to the enjoyment of other players who can now gain intelligence on where the best hunting-grounds are. However, if everyone rushes off to an obvious hot-spot the spread of information is not going to increase. So please, fellow Kaleuns, continue patrolling far and wide so that as many gaps as possible are filled-in on the Intel Map!
Now if I can just get the hang of the Enigma Encryption Machine, I'll be even happier!
Kptlt. Canovaro deserves a vote of thanks for setting-up this service and adding even more to SHIII.

Looks like fun; I'll answer the call!
Coincidence that I recently spotted a nice, juicy convoy - that should help. :D

Took me awhile to get it, but I got it and it made me chuckle a bit. Whenever I see something, you got my info bud; I'd love to be apart of and contribute to the comminuty.

If you have any questions, just ask. I have a reputation of being a very quick replier :)

Good idea Mate, tks:up:
Assigned to a grid NW of Freetown intercepted and followed a convoy from 20 November to 03 December 1941. Besides yielding over 78,000 tons, this formation revealed one of the convoy routes in mid-Atlantic.

Yes Brag - saw your plots on the Intel Map! Well done and good work! That must have taken a lot of patience. My last two patrols have been totally devoid of convoys except for those plotted as radio reports which were always too far away. Did manage a 27,000+ ton British passenger liner though in BF14, which is just off the Intel Map chart :damn: Dontcha just love Spinnennetz? :D
Wird erledigt!
U-27 in grid AL38 will report every visual contact!

Hey Brag, you really got me busy
Spend just as much time adding the icons as you shadowing that convoy  j/k

It was satisfying to reduce the convoy into a straggling few defeated survivors. Making Churchill's nightmare come true. The clincher was the vavavoom weather change that allowed to gun down the beggars. Thus a pleasure, Sir!

Saw you managed to stay in contact till CF32 though
Is this just me or did anyone else miss the starting postition and the key for it in the Bdu reply ? I got an answer and cannot read it
perhaps you gents have not heard of the breakthrough the german scientists have made. a recent rocket experiment with the V2 technology has propelled the Fatherland into the age of sattelites. I compel you to get the new 54-A Vorium Reciever installed on your boats ASAP to take advantage of this new technology!

Nice, thx :)
BTW: I think I've just encountered the most unexperienced ASW crews this game has to offer. Considering to ignore orders and attack instead :arrgh!:
After the last attempt to approach the convoy, one River and one Flower chased after us but never ever seemed to have any clue of our position. Just sneeked away at PD and watched them throwing depth charges into the empty ocean. Hydrophon shows that the third DD still stays with the convoy while the other 2 are way behind by now.
I was just behind the convoy but ahead of the 2. The convoy can't be too far away, visible range is limited to ~1500m though so I cannot tell precisely.
Now I worked my way to the side of the convoy, which travels at 9kn btw.
As two of the escorts are a good range behind this might be THE chance for an attack.
We'll see :|\\
