How do you feel now after so much time playing SH4 from the moment you got it till now?

How about playing it when I have time and still enjoying it.
Its definatly not the same as when I first got it. After all its been patched and modified so in some ways its better.
But then I am patiently waiting on 1.3 to.
This poll has too many pidgeonholes.

I'm playing it despite the fact that getting from Bismark Sea back to Pearl takes 50 minutes real time - at a constant 16knots :damn:
That's what I get for havign a sub-par system (below minimum specs). I'm still playing but only occasionally. Waiting for my new rig next week :yep:
Playing and enjoying it. But that is due to mods fixing some of the more glaring issues. As a former die-hard Battlefield player (the entire series, except 2142 naturally) I find this game very rewarding in a sense that fast FPS do not. That is not to say I do not enjoy some FPS action now and again, but I still feel drawn toward doing "just another patrol" in SH4.
And between doing some mayhem in fast FPS MP CoD2 or slow sim SH4, it comes down to time really. If I got all the time in the world, SH4 wins. If I gotta go within a couple of hours, MP CoD2 wins. Or just idling on the net, surfing and whatnot.
But now it is summer, and I find my playing computer games time seriously infringed upon by more pressing needs such as hanging with friends out in the sun. And after that in some bar or club or whatever. :D
Oh, and I won't vote on the poll, since there is no option for:
- Not enough hours in a given week to play it as much as I'd like too...

been playin since i got it and not gonna stop:rock: . thing is, due to how much time it consumes, the best time to go hunting is on my nights off and i can't really get far prior to leaving for work:damn: , altho i can sometimes get in a couple hour patrol and then refit for the next

Doing hardcore patrols!!!! Everyday!!! Since day one!!! SH4 FTW!!!
Playing every chance I get! Even better with all the mods that have come along! Playing on patch 1.1, afraid to upgrade as I don't want to loose my career on the Pollack!:D

It varies, but mostly still loving it. As patch 1.3 approaches, my passion dies down thinking about the things that will be fixed but I have to suffer through now.

I'm generally splitting my time between this and Company of Heroes, with a little Godfather thrown in when I'm in a bad mood ;)
I never really played it religiously like you guys, but It does consume a bit of my time.

Its nice but dim....looks good but is dull to play.
I miss the tension and immersion of the War in the Atlantic....here's hoping to all gods or all denominations, including the pagan ones and budism (but none of that scientology rubbish), that SHIV can be modded for the Atlatic Campaign.

Hmmm wait til better campaigns get made, everyone else here seems to find it immersive, and I prefer the variety of missions here. I still love the u-boats though don't get me wrong just like variety of theatres IMO.

Haven't made the purchase yet. Still enjoying SHIII with GWX.

Never played GWX. Never been interested. Give me fleet boats and the Pacific over the uboats anyday.

I'm back to SHIII till the patch comes out, then I'll try it again.

Same here, afterall it's a chance to help save my country against Imperial Japan. (See sig.)

I play GWX, but I agree, I prefer the Pacific by a wiiiiiide margin.
As for SH4, "Liking it even MORE than the day I bought it" should have been a poll option. As expected, mods and patches have improved it, and will continue to improve it.
I have literally bought EVERY subim sim of any kind released since 1996. I liked many of them, but this one is my favorite.

I like SH3, though I've never played GWX.

Remember all the people who kept saying "Why Pacific? U-boats are the only challenging/interesting/fun submarines!" Personally I lean toward the American submarine war, but I like and will play both.
Stopped playing after ~month.

When I first bought SH4 and found myself in the middle of a cow feces throwing fight between Sony and Mark Russinovich I was pretty disgusted with UBI for using a copy protection scheme which does not allow a computer to run a program (Process Explorer) just because of who the author is, not because it is useful to illegal disk copying. I was ready to sell the game on eBay.
But I made the mistake of uninstalling Process Explorer and trying the game. :arrgh!: It is an absolute hoot to play and the longer I play, the better I like it. Sure, I'm looking forward to whatever improvements come with patch 1.3, but I don't think it is fatally flawed at all. I believe mostly those with stability problems are playing with marginal machines (less than 2 gb of memory, older graphics cards, Windows Vista (hehehe) etc). For me the game has been rock steady with no CTD's at all and no save game problems similar to SH3.
I'm running an AMD Athlon 3700+, 2 gb OCZ go-fast memory and 2 EVGA GeForce 7600GT 256MB graphics cards in an SLI configuration (saved me a bundle over one 8800 card and runs like a scalded dog). So I sacrificed processor speed for graphics and have a sub $1000 machine that runs either Silent Hunter with graphics WFO.
I'm looking forward to improvements in the game, but far more important are improvements in myself as I progress toward running both games on full reality settings. SH3 with GWX is ultimate training for dealing with destroyers. If you can survive that, you'll prosper easily in SH4. I'm having a great time and recommend both simulations highly.

I took a hiatus from the game while repairing my system. Playing once a week or a little more eight now (work schedule is interfering). But when the patch gets here, will probably spend a lot more time gaming, hopefully to shakeout the patch, and then to really enjoy all the systems functioning.
But I do love this game.

Waiting for the patch.
I miss the option for liking it more now than when it came out, as I`m actually playing it now, thanks to a 8800 GTS.
But ... I`m hoping the Atlantic gets modded into this game. Fleet boats and the scenario IS duller than the allure of the Atlantic and the struggling u-boats.

I'm with you. The way the campaign was...with the Happy Times of 1940-1941, the Second Happy Time of Operation Drumbeat, and then the bleak times of May '43 onwards, it seems custom made for the scaling difficulty of a video game.
